They pick  women  who make them feel  the  instinctive  emotion  of INFATUATION".

Psychologists have  discovered  that infatuation originates from  a subconscious  drive  deep within the brain ...

 
When his  infatuation instinct  is triggered , it makes no difference  if she  has any of  the criteria   he identified as his 'perfect match' .

A woman  could be completely  wrong  for him,  but  he'll make time for her. He'll move mountains  for her . He will  do whatever  is necessary  to be a couple .
